How I Work
Embrace the opportunity to connect, reflect, and grow—your path to a brighter tomorrow begins here.
I am committed to working with you to support you to find a place that feels more authentic for you.
Sometimes life can be challenging. During these times we may need to explore difficult thoughts and feelings or challenge old and outdated beliefs that impact on our lives. It can be difficult to reach out to friends and family for support for several reasons. When this is the case, therapy can offer a safe place to explore what is happening, make sense of, and navigate a way forward.
What Happens in Counselling?
Assessment: During our first session I will learn about the issues that bring you to counselling, begin to understand what is causing a problem for you now, and hear how you would like things to be different.
Discussion and Exploration: You will have a space to explore your thoughts and feelings. Together we can identify patterns and underlying issues and develop a greater awareness and understanding.
Problem-Solving: As we address concerns, we can explore strategies and tools to support you to feel more equipped in managing challenges.
Key Elements of Counselling and Psychotherapy
Counselling and Psychotherapy offers a different type of relationship to those that we would have with our family and friends.
Supportive relationship: Counselling is a relationship which is built on trust and empathy. It provides a space for you to be heard and feel supported and understood.
Confidentiality: It is important that you feel safe within therapy so that you can talk about the concerns that you have. Confidentiality fosters a safe space to share.
Non-judgmental approach: When you come to therapy, I accept you as you are. This is a space for you to make sense of the position you are in and explore your values, beliefs and opinions. Sessions are tailored to support you and individual to your needs and what you would like to achieve.
Goal-oriented: As we work together, we can identify goals to support our growth. This may include working on something specific, improving relationships, or gaining self-understanding.
Skills and Tools: Sometimes we can implement additional skills and techniques to allow us to feel more equipped and confident in our ability.
Types of Counselling
I offer one-to-one sessions which are focused on you. During the sessions we will look at what you want to bring, whether this is exploring personal challenges or focusing on specific issues such as relationship issues, grief or trauma.
